Karo took me over to the ball diamond to give me lessons in herding. I*m not sure who was better at this, me or her. She was very good at showing me her technique when I was about 10 months of age. This is what I was meant to do: to keep my herd under my gaze and control at all times. Karo taught me how to do this with great stealth and finesse. Most of the time my herd was unaware they were under my control.
After my herding lesson Karo showed me some of her show moves. She was taught as a puppy how to do the show stack. This was my first attempt at the stack, not bad for a beginner. Besides, I wanted to impress the family, below, with my quickness to learn as well as for them to see how I was managing at my new home, I'm the one third from the right, yeah, the one with his tongue out, misbehaving in the picture, our last family photo before we left home to our new families.
Here we are all 10 of us, five bitches and five dogs, my sister Allie, second from the left, and I were the last of the puppies to leave the nest. Allie's wee heart gave out when she was 8 months old and I was on my own as the last puppy with my dam and sire before moving in with Karo.
